I have often struggled with understanding the draw to dance on camera. For me, it often lacks the visceral sensation live dance affords. Generally when I watch dance on camera, I am so distracted by the ‘how’ of the film that I miss the dance.  This is not so with “Reines d’un jour”; the film and the dance components are so beautifully integrated, I forget to think and I am just there with them.

Happy Holidays!

and the beat goes on …

Why is it so hard for me to pick music for my dances? I am extremely jealous of choreographers who hear a song and then are inspired to make a piece to/with it. I’m all backwards. I always seem to imagine the dance and then try to find music afterwards, which is impossible. Now don’t get me wrong, I think I have awesome taste in music, out dated as it may be. But the music on my ipod doesn’t alway pair well with modern dance- or does it?  The search continues…

welcome

I don’t know how much I’ll be sharing my deepest thoughts and feelings on this blog – not that there is anything wrong with that; it’s just not my thing. However, it is nice to have a creative platform for sharing pictures and videos of my dances with folks not in Columbus.  This will be a place I can post works-in-progress to get feedback from my former collaborators and artists whose opinions I value that aren’t able to come watch rehearsal. The blog will also allow family and friends that can’t hop on a plane for every performance to see what I’m up to, even though it’s not quite the real deal.
